Positions In Baseball
In Baseball, each position has a number. First off, the number 1 position is the pitcher. The number 2 position is the catcher. The third postion is the first baseman. The fourth position is the second baseman. The fifth position is the third baseman. The sixth position on the baseball field is the short-stop. The seventh position on the baseball diamond is the left fielder. The eighth position on the baseball field is the center fielder and the ninth position on the diamond is the right fielder. Also, there is a special position called the designated hitter. The role of this position is for a very talented, normally power hitter, to take the hitting duties for the pitcher. Pitchers in baseball usually discontinue hitting in college so it's very easy to find this role in the college or pro level. You will find it sometimes in high school, but not as much.
