I like to occasionally write poems from time to time. My style of poetry is very unique and I like to use personification a lot. I really like to put my self in objects positions and see how it would feel like to be that particular object. So this weeks blog is a poem that I wrote two years ago called "Stapler".
You are forcing me.
I repeatedly do the same task.
Congregation of trees in a form called paper.
Don't make those staples anymore.
So I won't have a purpose.
Because frankly,
Insertion of them is bad enough.
But to spit them out
Without manipulation of my own throat
Could very well turn my blood to rust
and cause an inconvience on your paper.

Keeping Your Dreams In Front Of You
Certain people have high expectations and dreams for themselves. Some are complacent with being mediocre. However, the ones with big dreams in front of them tend to get shot down by the mediocre crowd. Some block out the negative and some actually take it to heart. It is a shame that we have people in society that tell people they can't do something. If one works hard enough at something, I personally believe that one can succeed with encouragement from their peers instead of being shot down. Morale tends to decrease as the insults and discouragement increases. For those who take it to heart, don't. People who try to bring others down have issues with their self confidence. As goal oriented people, we need to keep our eyes on our goals and block out any distractions. You and your mindset is what controls your success. For example: Josh Hamilton was a minor league baseball player who was banned from baseball for multiple drug charges. For three years he was out of baseball and was heading down the wrong path. The media kept saying that he would never see the field again and at least ever have a job. He proved them wrong. Hamilton is now playing for the Cincinatti Reds and is two years clean. He uses his story as a witness to others and maintains to keep his goal in tact, to remain sober and play the game of baseball for the Lord, despite some negative talk that he still has to hear.
Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something. If you work hard, anything is possible through Christ.

Leadership
In today's society, we find that leaders are hard to come by and followers are omnipresent. A leader can be defined as someone who displays integrity and leads by good example rather than acting as an authority figure. A follower is one who is easily influenced by others poor decisions. With being a leader comes the gratification to know that you are influencing others in a good manner and making others want to do the right things. Ralph Nadar quotes, " I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not followers.". Our goal as leaders is to promote wise choices to others with out arrogance. If one brags about how they are leaders and how they tell people what to do, they aren't leaders; they are just trying to build their ego and ultimately they are followers instead of leaders. Peter Druckers says, "The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I." And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I." They don't think "I." They think "we"; they think "team." They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done.".
Leadership is something we should definitely strive for but not for our ego. It is rather to make the world a better place.

Handling Adversity And Being Successful
Everyone in life at some point or another will stumble. However, not everyone will pick themselves back up and face adversity straight in the eyes. This is where the line between failure and success is drawn.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Chuck Swindoll who says,
"Ten percent of life is what happens to us and ninety percent is how we respond.". For example: A man has been informed that he will be layed off of his job in two weeks. The question now is how will this man respond to what is happening to him. If he is a failure, he will most likely sulk in his own humility and feel sympathetic for him self. If he is a successful man, he will ask himself, "How quickly can I find a good job and where?".
We can not control the past. We can not feel sympathetic for ourselves. We must forgive our past mistakes. We must look for ways to improve as human beings. If we don't, we will set ourselves up for a lifetime of remorse and sorrow.
I can honestly say that I have made plenty of mistakes in my short life. But I have forgiven myself and I'm focused on God and the choices he wants me to make and I'm not looking back. If I did decide to not follow God and keep feeling sorry for myself, I would get no where in life.
I hope this has been somewhat motivational to anyone reading this. If you're struggling right now and looking for answers but can't find the right ones, please read Joshua 1:9.
Thanks for your time and I will have another blog up this week.
